HP to do it the Yahoo way for search
Yahoo and Hewlett-Packard have signed a deal to feature Yahoo services, including search, on the HP PCs sold into the US and European consumer markets.
Under the agreement, HP PCs will feature Yahoo search as the default search box on the Internet Explorer 7 browser and there will be a co-branded tool bar which will give HP PC users access to Yahoo Mail, as well as Yahoo news and finance content pages.
The HP deal follows a similar deal Yahoo signed a few weeks ago with Acer.
Yahoo and search leader Google have battled hard to counter Microsoft’s desktop dominance by working through the major hardware and software vendors.
Google already has an agreement in place with Dell and Adobe Systems, as well a long standing agreement with Mozilla, which developed Internet Explorer’s major browser rival, the increasingly popular Firefox.
